Carrot chips

Carrot chips are a healthy, crunchy snack that you can easily make at home. They can be baked or air-fried for a lighter alternative to traditional potato chips. Here's a simple recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 4 large carrots
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions:

Baking Method:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  2. Prepare the Carrots: Wash and peel the carrots. Using a mandoline or a sharp knife, slice the carrots into thin, even rounds (about 1/8-inch thick). Thinner slices will get crispier.

  3. Season the Carrots: Place the carrot slices in a bowl and toss them with olive oil until evenly coated. Add salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder (if using), and mix well.

  4. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Lay the carrot slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they do not overlap.

  5. Bake: Bake for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the edges are crispy and golden brown. Keep an eye on them to avoid burning, as they can crisp up quickly toward the end.

  6. Cool and Serve: Let the carrot chips cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet—they’ll continue to crisp up as they cool. Enjoy them as a snack or side dish!

Air-Fryer Method (Optional):

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Follow the Same Steps: Slice the carrots, toss with olive oil and seasonings, and arrange in a single layer in the air fryer basket.

  3. Cook: Air fry the carrot slices for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until crispy and golden.

  4. Cool and Enjoy: Allow to cool slightly before serving.

These carrot chips are great on their own or paired with dips like hummus, guacamole, or a yogurt-based dip!
